Altium to Allegro Schematic and PCB layout Transfer.

I recently transferred my files from Altium to OrCad/Allegro as ASCII files. Also, currently I am using the cloud version free trail for university students while my department is getting access for a full license for me. I have minimal experience with Cadence.

The schematic transfer seem to work with minimal problems. Few being warnings about no connect pins on my headers, but I'm also getting errors saying that footprints are missing for pretty much all of my components. Although I have them in my Altium design.

I see that it says to ensure the footprint is in the library path, but I'm not sure how to add it properly, and haven't found good documentation to do so.

In addition, the PCB layout that I transferred from Altium was imported, but did not include my headers. When I go to add them manually it appears in the hierarchal tree to place, but says the pins do not match, even though the synced schematic shows it properly connected. In this process I created the netlist in the schematic and imported it into the PCB layout. The nets appear, but won't let me place header.

Is there specific documentation I can refer to that walks through file transfer in detail?

    Hi Jlopez,

Please make sure that you are configuring the paths to your libraries correctly. The critical ones are your PSMPATH (folder where your symbols are), PADPATH (folder where your padstacks are):

And take into account that the order in which the folders are displayed is hierarchical. It will matter.

You can find this menu in PCB Editor by going to Setup > User Preferences and then selecting Library > Paths. In the free version of the oncloud tool, you'll see this:

If you need your footprints to be available for the tool, you can use File > Export > Libraries and place the result of this action in one of the previous folders.

    I hope this helps
