odb++ import

hello

 

is there a way to import odb++ files into the pcb editor?

 

the help menu has the description of the valor translation.

 

do i need the valor translation to import odb++ files?

    Not ODB++ but you can import IPC2581 which may be a better method. You can also look at CAM350 (Downstream Tech) which will import ODB++, you can then export a PADS Ascii file which Allegro will import.

    Yes, you need ODB++ inside installation to import ODB++ files. Please see below article,

    The latest 23.1 hotfix includes a new command to import ODB++ data, below is the top few lines from it's documentation:

    odbpp in

    The odbpp in command imports an OBD++ archive into the layout editor. The following archive formats are supported: .tgz, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.z, .zip.

    Available in Allegro X Advanced Package Designer. To access this command in PCB Editor, enable odbpp_import_utility in the User Preferences dialog box.

    thank u for ur response, david.

      

    unfortunately i still have 17.4 so i would have to wait for my company to upgrade it to 23.1.
