Snapping functions

hi everybody,

I am using Orcad PCB designer 23.1.

If the measure or dimension function with snapping is used that works some times not correctly. E.g. if Measure -> Snap pick to Pad Edge Midpoint is checked the cursor snapes to Pin center. Although Persistance Snap is OFF, the next snapping is allways the last one, in this case Pin.

Everybody knows this problem.

Thank you

JuriV

The reason for not being able to measure from Pad Edge to Pad Edge is that the Find filter has Pin selected, and this snaps the pick to the center of the Pin.

To measure from Pad Edge to Pad Edge, use the following steps:

    1. Navigate to the menu Setup > Application mode > General Edit or Placement Edit
    2. Select Display > Measure from the menu.
    3. In the Find filter disable all object selections (All Off).
    4. Place the cursor at the point where you wish to measure (zoomed in to the point will give you better accuracy) and click right mouse button, RMB > Snap pick to  > Pad Edge Midpoint.

This will allow you to select the pad edge as desired.
