merging shapes

hello

 

is there a way to merge multiple shapes at once?

 

the merge command works only one shape at a time.

 

for instance, merging shapes shown below requires the merge commands 4 times as there are 4 separate shapes.

 

i would like to find a way to merge all shapes one time by selecting shapes by area because i have hundreds of shapes overlapped on our customer's design.
