Copper void under a trace across layers

Hi,

Is there a way to specify that copper should be removed below a trace through all the layers under the trace similar to the way DYN_CLEARANCE_OVERSIZE removes copper next to the trace. In other words, same functionality as DYN_CLEARANCE_OVERSIZE that removes copper in all other layers.

Thanks!

Good question that.and yes it can be done fairly easily. Give this a try.

Create a shape on the "Route Keepout All Class"

Right click on the shape and set the following properties. Routes Allowed, Vias Allowed.

When you create a route keepout shape it will clear copper planes if the copper plane is dynamic so basically you have voided copper.

The properties of the Route Keepout when set can allow Routes or traces and vias to exist within the Shape / Voided area.

Let us know if that works for you.

Hi... Yup that is what I already did. The problem is that is very manual. Every time the trace moves you have to redo the void shape. I was hoping there was an automatic way to specify "remove all copper under a trace".

There is a free app available here Download the GraserWare ClineRouteKeepout App - OrCAD Software Apps and Extensions | EMA Store (ema-eda.com) that allows you to be a bit more automated which should help.
