How to preserve the net name color on pins when assigning colors to pins?

I opened two design files and one's net name color on pins won't change with colors assigned while another will. My colleague encountered the same issue with different design files, and it seems to appear randomly.

We found that after running "Dehilight All" on the file where net name color on pins changes after assigning colors(only dehilight a single pin won't work!). After doing this, all the net names on pins became whiter, similar to the “color-won’t-change” file. However, if you assign colors to the pins again, the text color will change with color assigned. The other file's text will stay white all the time whatever command you ran: Assign color, Hilight...

We hope the net name color on pins won't change with colors assigned so that we can see it more clearly. We couldn't find where to toggle this setting. Could this be a display bug in Allegro?

The Allegro product I used is "Allegro PCB Venture"

Hi, When you assign a net name color by default it will color the pins, nets, shapes, clines, vias etc. It will also color the pin net name because the pin is part of the net.
As you indicated this can make it difficult to see the net name on a pin.

The only thing you can do is disable the netname color on the pins. Go to > Display > Color/Visibility. Click on Nets. This will open the Nets Window. In there you can
uncheck the pins that are colored by the assigned color.

The way it works now has been like that for along time. I agree it would be better to not color the net name on a pin because doing so can make it hard to read the net name on the pin.

    All the best.

    Hi excellon1,

Thank you for your answer!  It seems that the net name changing with pin color is the normal way that Allegro works? But I am still wondering why in some of my designs those net names stay white when changing pin color as the right part of the pic I posted shows. Maybe the latter is a bug but somehow creates an unexpected desired result?

Hi, it is possible to change the pin color and the net name will remain in white on the pad, the crux of the issue is that when you assign a net color the pad net name will also take on that color which can make it difficult to see. I don't think this is a bug, perhaps more of an oversight.
As a workaround you could make the pads hollow so that it would be easier to see the net name on the pad. Go to Setup > design parameters and uncheck the filled pads option.

    All the best.
