Copy cline to solder mask layer

Fredda
Fredda 10 months ago

I want to make an opening in the solder mask right above a trace that is acting like a guard ring. Do I really need to go and buy the Allegro Productivity Toolbox add-on for using the Cross-Copy tool for a basic operation like that??

As Steve suggested the new shape feature to handle this works well so if you are on the latest release you can try that out.

Other methods do exist if not on latest.

You could simply draw in the soldermask on the soldermask class to create that mask removal area over your trace using a line. Add the line on the Board Geometry > SolderMask_Top or SolderMask_Bottom.

There is also an excellent skill utility called cline to shape that can convert your cline to a shape. You can use this shape as your mask removal area by coping it to the
    Board Geometry > SolderMask_Top or SolderMask_Bottom.

For best results, Just copy your cline off the board to a free area so as to create the shape as a starting point.

    Best Regards.
