How to store the workspace designs and projects in local directory

Dear Community,

In OrCAD X Profession, the workspace feature enables the users to store the libraries (Schematic Symbol, Footprint and PSpice Models) and Designs (Schematic and PCB layout) in the cloud workspace.

But storing these libraries and design are stored in servers in the USA, Europe, Asia and Japan Servers.

I don't want to store my designs in any of these servers instead I want to create the workspace in my local PC and store all my libraries and designs in the local workspace.

Is this possible, if possible then can anyone provide the steps/procedure or videos of how to do it?

Regards,

Rohit Rohan

    Hi Rohit.

So to do what you want your PC would have to be on a local area network. On that network there would need to be a server setup with folders. In the Microsoft world this basically falls into the realm of a file sharing server & a domain controller to handle permissions. Basically your classic MS corporate type of network setup.

Typically access to such a server is based on access credentials. On your local PC you would need to Map your folders to the server. For example things like your cad libraries etc.

You don't have to use shared workspaces if you do not want to. If you are working for a company more than likely they will have something similar to a classic MS network.

If it is just you and you don't have a network, then I suggest just working locally only if you have concerns about where your data might be stored.

    Best Regards.
