Change place of connect point in a pad

Fredda
Fredda 8 months ago

When routing a differential pair that connect to termination resistors, I want the cline to just touch the edge of the resistor pad. This means that the cline is not going through the connect point, which is at the centre of the pad, and Allegro thinks that the net is unrouted. Can I move the connect point or is there some way to tell Allegro that the net is actually fully routed?

I wanted to insert a picture to show what I mean, but I haven't been able to upload any pictures to the community for several weeks. All I get is: "An error occurred. Please try again or contact your administrator." Is something broken in the upload function?

Hi Fredda, yes the image upload is causing problems at the moment. You might try a bitmap format upload using the insert button.

As for your question. I would consider making a copy of this pad with an pad offset. The cline should terminate at the pad "centre" which can be set as an offset. If this offset has the exact correct distance then you should be able to get the cline to terminate at exactly the correct spot at the perimeter of the pad. Of course you should then also readjust the symbol in the opposite direction so that the pad pitch remains the same as before.

Thanks. Ok, a bitmap seems to work. What I ended up doing was adding a short connect line from the pad connect point to the trace. Not pretty, but it works.
