3DX export - component rotated

Fredda
Fredda 8 months ago

I find myself constantly struggling with the 3D export. First image below is from the 3DX-canvas and the second image is an exported STEP file viewed in eDrawings. Why is the USB-C connector rotated? And why is the left connector missing part of its body in the 3DX canvas?

BTW. Please fix the image upload function. Only BMP pictures can be uploaded. And they hitting the max file size limit even for small images.

/F

This is usually related to the step model. Try Setup - User Preferences - Interfaces - STEP and enable step_export_mixed_units and see if that helps. If it doesn't try opening the step model in an mcad tool and resaving. This can also correct the issue sometimes.

Thanks for answering. The step_export_mixed_units setting didn't help, but when looking closer at the USB-C connector I can see that it's not even the same STEP-model in the two images. So one model is being used in the 3DX canvas and another is being used during the export.

OK Check your steppath variable and make sure this first location specified has the correct model. When exporting step this tools use the library step model in the export.

I've checked the steppath and the step mapping and they point to the rotated model, which is the wrong model. The funny or strange thing is that when opening the *.dra file of the connector and looking in the 3D canvas, it shows the correct model although the Model File name is that of the wrong model. And I haven't even been able to find the correct STEP file in any of the STEP libraries! I need to look deeper into this.

Is there a "secret" cache somewhere? I've searched through all the libraries and I cannot find the STEP file. I ended up downloading the STEP file and remapping it to the symbol so problem solved, but I'm curious at to what happened.
