How to install Allegro Free Physical Viewer 16.6?
Even though so many people don't understand and ask questions, why hasn't it been fixed?

The PCB Editor version16.6 is an old tool version from 13 years ago. The latest version is 25.1 with 26.1 planned for September 2026. All newer software versions currently support the 16.6 pcb databases using an uprev feature provided with the tool installation. However, this old freeviewer is no longer maintained. The newest pcb viewer is available to download and use for free. Only the latest freeveiwer version will be maintained by our software team. We have requested for this internally but the answer is that only one freeviewer will be made available in future.

Using a Cadence support case, we could provide you with a download for the old installer if necessary. If you have any users with login access to support.cadence.com or ask.cadence.com, then I would recommend they request this via a cadence support case. Alternatively, users should uprev the board file using later versions of the tool which can be installed from downloads.cadence.com.

We are currently not able to provide old tool installer downloads directly on this community site and would advise caution to any users following links on open forums. Links on this forum are generally redacted automatically by the site security system.
