Why does the command extracta -version return the result of extracta -versionLong?

ANSYS
ANSYS 1 month ago

When executing the command extracta -version in the Windows Command Prompt (CMD), the program does not return the expected version information. Instead, it outputs the same result as the command extracta -versionLong.

What would cause this issue? How can I get the correct version information with "extracta -version" in my PC?

I can not reproduce your issue when pointing directly at the Cadence s/w trees, as shown below:

    C:\Windows\System32>d:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\tools\bin\extracta.exe -version
    Tool: extracta 17.4-S039

    C:\Windows\System32>d:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\tools\bin\extracta.exe -versionLong

    C:\Windows\System32>c:\Cadence\SPB_22.1\tools\bin\extracta.exe -version
    Tool: extracta 22.1-S008

    C:\Windows\System32>c:\Cadence\SPB_22.1\tools\bin\extracta.exe -versionLong

    C:\Windows\System32>f:\Cadence\SPB_23.1\tools\bin\extracta.exe -version
    Tool: extracta 23.1-S003

    C:\Windows\System32>f:\Cadence\SPB_23.1\tools\bin\extracta.exe -versionLong

    C:\Windows\System32>

Perhaps you might have a batch file named 'extracta.bat' that is causing this issue?

Also, Make sure you have the path of the extracta.exe (C:\Cadence\SPB_23.1\tools\bin) in your PATH environment variable.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have set the PATH environment variable.

Thanks for your test. I only set the PATH environment variable to C:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\tools\bin\, so it should automatically detect the appropriate version.

Does "extracta.bat" exist for each version? If I have installed 17.2 and 17.4, are there two "extracta.bat" or not?
