Installing True Type Text Fonts and adding stroke text in Orcad X 25.1

I'm very happy to see the True-Type text features that have been added to the recent releases of Orcad X, but I have a couple of issues with them.

Firstly, my company uses non-windows default fonts as part of its brand, which I have installed on my computer. These fonts don't show up in the PCB editor for me to use, so I still need to use my old workarounds of converting text to bitmaps and importing it. Is there a way to install fonts on Windows that will allow them to be used in Orcad PCB editor?

Secondly, for consistency with older parts in our library we still want to use vector fonts for designators and similar labels. Since 24.1 I have not been able to find a way to add vector text - only true type. As a workaround I have been converting the true-type text to a text block style after placing the text, but I would prefer to cut out this additional step. Is it possible?

Thanks!

I don't know about adding True Type fonts, you may want to raise that with Cadence Support. The "text style" options are controlled through a User Preference. UI / Control Panel group, "text_control_option_tab", Values are Font Styles, the default and True Type fonts, Text Blocks for the "vector fonts" and "Both". When adding Text, select the Style, "No Style" / "Style" for True Type fonts or "Text Blocks" for "vector" text.

Thanks, that solves that part of the issue for me.

I have been struggling with this for some time this evening. I first assumed that the Menu item "Style" which had a downward pointing triangle ment a drop down menu where either "No style" (if none) or "Text Block" should be visible and then selectable. It was NOT. It seems that the user has to enter that text manually in order to select a text block when wanting to add text to a .BRD.

When "Style" is selected, the next drop down menu displays a long list of TT fonts. When "Text Block" is entered manually, the next drop down menu displays a number of text block numbers.

This behavior seems a bit strange but again, I suspect RTFM on my side but anyway glad that I found out.
