Allegro hangs when trying to edit vias in CM

pmillett
pmillett 22 days ago

When I try and edit the via list in CM by double clicking on the via list, Allegro hangs. Sometimes it comes back in a minute, sometimes not. It doesn't matter what PCB is open - even if I create a new blank PCB, it hangs.

Any ideas why?

Otherwise opening and editing a PCB works fine.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

What service pack version are you running ?. In looking through some of the CCR's there were some issues with vias in 17.4.

    Fixed CCRs: SPB 17.4 HF009
Purging all vias from CM via list causing crash

    Fixed CCRs: SPB 17.4 HF008
Not able to add via with the comma "," character in its name in the via list through CM.

Can you check the via name & make sure there are no unusual characters in it's name ?.

    Other things to try:

On your local drive, create a new folder & put some vias there. Change path in Allegro to point to that new folder. Do the vias load in CM ?.

If on a network, Verify you can browse to the shared folder. Verify you can copy a small file to that network folder from your PC. Verify you can also
copy a file from the networked folder to your local drive.

    Best Regards.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried pretty much all of this. It looks like "17.4-2019 P001" though I'm not sure that includes service packs?

In any case... I discovered if I wait long enough - like 3 HOURS - the via list will eventually load. So I have gotten around the problem for now. I hope I don't need to set up vias again.

Another quick check is to enable ' directory_cache' ENV variable and check if your ENV settings has non-accessible directories configured.

Then with with command 'bad_directories' you can do this check:

    >bad_directories

Number of non-accessible directories in PATH variables (includes access times). Requires env variable directory_cache to enable.

Use arg 'reset' to reset cache..
    "C:\Cadence\Resources\pad_files", access time (secs) 0.000
