Why so much confusion with PCB Suppliers and orders?

John T
John T 2 months ago

Talking with designers has highlighted that nearly every design group has some form of personalized Checklist for PCB Drawings, intended to prevent incorrect pcb orders.

What is causing the most confusion; is it the supplier or the drawings?

Every designer we meet has some tale of wrong pcb orders which they have learned from…

Let us know if you ever had any of these experiences:

  1. Missing Via fill/tenting or fill material type
  2. Board Outline missing details / Overall X/Y dimensions
  3. Missing Drilling/milling plated or unplated
  4. Edge, plated milling or other absence
  5. Layer order, copper weights or stackup thickness
  6. Wrong Surface Finishes
  7. The list goes on…?

How are you documenting your pcbs to prevent this?
