Ramping up on APD SKILL

archive
archive over 18 years ago

Greetings to all.
We're a long-time APD user, but we've done very little SKILL programming under Allegro.

What is the best way of ramping up? (i.e. where can we find tutorials/classes/examples etc.)?

Regards
Kretch

    Well, you could hire me
http://www.edawizardry.com/resume_chris.jsp - good with dofiles too!
    ;-)

but SKILL code is pretty much identical between APD and Allegro. All the Allegro-specific functions (axl) work under both products TTBOMK.

t/c/e can all be found on Sourcelink, account on which is free when you have a paid-up license.

There's also the skill-school mailing list on groups.yahoo.com you might consider joining, there is some overlap between this forum and that list.

PS - anyone know of a position for a(nother) Cadence guru?

You may wish to use axlMapClassName to allow mapping class name differences between the products.
This will allow your skill code to work both in PCB and APD.

    krerch:

Cadence do provide Allegro Editor SKILL programming course 13.6 for both Allegro PCB Editor and APD. It needs about 4 people to form a course. If you and your teamates are interested in this course, we could form a group of 4 people and have them to open up this course.

Let me know if you are interested in it.
