Why to use Allegro System Capture – Find and Edit

In a design cycle, the schematic undergoes many changes based on the requirement change, failure during analysis, simulations or testing, and so on. In large designs, making component changes, editing properties, or modifying net names can be exhaustive. This requires a lot of manual effort and is error prone.

With System Capture, you can do these tasks promptly.

You can quickly search and navigate components, nets and properties in your design and update them.

Right-click on the search results to get the following options:

You can use the Edit option to modify the selected object.

The Navigate option will highlight the selected object on the schematic canvas.

To generate a csv report for the search results, use the Report option.

You can use the Edit Externally option to modify the selected objects externally. For example, select all net names in search results and right-click and select Edit Externally to open the search results in a text editor. Make the modifications in the text file and save to update the changes.

    you can add the following directive in the START_CANVAS section of the site.cpm OR in your project.cpm file to specify the text editor of your choice:

    text_editor 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe -multiInst -nosession'

    For more details on this, you can refer the following link of an article which I have found on cadence online support portal:
