Why to use Allegro System Capture – Live BOM

Bill of Materials (BOM) refers to a report that lists the components used in the design. This helps you place an order for the required components. Typically, a BOM lists all components used in a design along with the part numbers and values of the different properties for each component.

System Capture has an enhanced BOM feature called Live BOM, which represents an always up-to-date view of the design BOM with a minimal configuration.

Live BOM is updated:

  • As soon as you place a part on the schematic canvas.
  • Use the Add to BOM option from Unified Search.
  • Modify the quantity of a component in the Live BOM tab in System Capture.

In the Pulse environment, Live BOM can also be accessed and updated from a web dashboard.

Click on the Settings icon and select the Live BOM option to include it in the Project viewer.

Enable Live BOM

Double-click on Live BOM to open it in a new tab.

Hey Kumarsanj, Live BOM is available with both the latest versions of Cadence SPB. i.e. SPB 17.4 and SPB 22.1. Believe you would find this feature handy and useful.
