SysCap – Tip of the Week: Adding Prefix/Suffix to Hierarchical Block RefDes

When working in a hierarchical design with multiple and replicated blocks, it is often required to add a prefix or suffix to component reference designators in the underlying schematic of a hierarchical block.

Specify the Prefix or Suffix in the Packaging Options window that comes up when you place a hierarchical block on the schematic canvas.

For an already placed block, select the block, right-click and choose Packaging Options from the context menu.

Click OK and descend the hierarchical block to see the RefDes changes.
