Why to use Allegro System Capture – Reuse Design

These days, many designs are not created from scratch. When you have an existing design in production, it is convenient to reuse the logical and physical reference designs to save time and effort.

System Capture supports reusing of designs.

Choose the required hierarchical block in Project Viewer and right-click and select Export to Reuse Layout.

Specify the <output>.brd file name and click OK.

Open the .brd file in Allegro PCB Editor, place the components, and use the Tools > Create Module option and create a module (*.mdd).

After you have the module file for the block created, you can use the physical reuse packaging option to reuse the physical module in the root design layout. 

Place the hierarchical block on the schematic canvas and check the Physical Reuse Block option.
