What are the benefits of cross probing?

In a design cycle, there are instances when you want to highlight components on the PCB as you select them in the schematic canvas or vice versa. This is popularly known as cross probing.

Cross Probing

It can be used in various scenarios. One of them might be component placement during floor planning. A layout designer might need to group certain components, move, and place them at a particular location on the board based on their functionality. For this, you select components on a schematic page to highlight them on the PCB and place them at a desired location.
