SysCap – Tip of the Week: Assigning a RefDes range for hierarchical blocks

When working with hierarchical designs, you can assign a reference designator range for all components in the underlying block schematic.

Place a block on the schematic sheet, select Use Range in the Packaging Options for Block dialog box, and specify the reference designator range.

This will control the assignment of reference designators for the block as per the defined range.
