How to replace split parts in Allegro System Capture

In a design cycle, there are instances where you need to replace all sections of a split part while preserving their reference designators.

In Allegro System Capture, you can do this as follows:

  1. In System Capture, select Edit > Find and Replace or press Ctrl+H to open the Find and Replace
  2. In the Find what section, use the Select from canvas or Select Component option to select the component to be replaced, for example, IC123XX. If you use the Select from canvas option, you can pick the required component directly from the schematic canvas. If you use the Select Component option, you will need to choose the part from the library.
  3. Similarly, in the Replace with section, choose the part that you want to replace with, for example, IC789CD. Note that when you select a component, it populates the Find and Replace dialog with Library, Cell, View (sym_x), and other part properties.
  4. In the View field, type * as shown below.

        5. Choose the required scope in the Advanced option and click Replace.

This will replace all sections of the required split parts while preserving the existing reference designators.
