How to see already placed components in PIM?

Hi,

When I'm choosing components to put on a schematic I have a heavy preference for using components that are already in the Bill of Materials. e.g. I'd much rather use two 10k resistors if they already exist on the BoM, than place one 20k resistor and have to add another line item on the BoM, have another component to order and possibly be out of stock, etc etc.

When I right click on the schematic and chose Add Component which brings up the Part Information Manager, is there any way to see in there a list of components that already exist in the design? So I can choose from them preferentially?

It is a pain having to do this manually by looking through the BoM.

Cheers!

Hi, If you are talking with respect to Part information Manager in DEHDL, you cannot see already placed parts in PIM. However, BOM can be generated and looked into whenever it is needed to see which all parts are placed on the schematic.

I understand that its been a while and this post has no answers till now. I would like to take this opportunity to ask you please let us know if you have found any better way to do it.

However, In System Capture, there is Live BOM which gets updated on the fly whenever there is new addition on the schematic. You can explore more about Live BOM here:
