Hi has anybody got experience in importing thrid party gerber into allegro or do they know of any software that can help?

There is a technical note on source link but this isnt very good for the layman to use and implement, better if anyone knows of software that can help take out illegal char so allegro will stop moaning. :o)

    Hi Stephen,

Welcome to the community! I don't have the technical know-how to help with your questions, however, I'm adding some tags at the end of this thread that might help someone witih the answers to find the post and answer it (tags really help in searches).

Yes, I've imported PADS gerbers into Allegro. Wasn't easy, but Cadence can help.

What I had to do was generate a "PADS-like" art.param and aperture.txt file; then experiment with the Allegro UNITS until I could get it to come in. Once I knew what the setting needed to be it was pretty easy.

One note, you'll need to work with the aperture file until you get the "dimensionals" correct. It took some time until I could get the unit variable right (2,3 or 3,4 or 3,5, etc.)

    Good day.
