Translating PCAD files to Cadence

We are transitioning away from PCAD and are in the process of choosing a new design platform that will easily translate our large database of schematic, library and board files to the new platform without shutting down a 100+ engineers.

Does Cadence have a good translator for PCAD?

To start with, good is a relative term.  Cadence has a translator to convert the PCAD board databases (pcad_in).  However, I don't believe it has been updated in a while (I could be wrong).  It uses a PDIF file as its input.  I have limited experience with it.

I know of nothing from Cadence on the schematic side.  There are some capabilities within Library Expert product to import libraries, but nothing at the design level.  We use the E-Studio Pro product from http://elgris.com to translate schematics from a variety of CAD systems and it works quite well.

    Hi Charlie,

I appreciate your help.  This is a major issue with the design platforms we are looking at.

    Thanks,

    Steve M.
