Duplicating Placement for Indentical Group of Circuit

archive
archive over 17 years ago

Hi All,

Is there a function in Allegro Editor to duplicate the placement, fan-out and clines connection, if I have 2 groups of identical circuits and I have already placed and connected one of them?

Lets say I finished placement of one group.
I want the second group to be placed and connected exactly the same as the first group.
Both groups have same parts and circuit.

Thanks,
Newbie

    Newbie,

For many of us, this is the Holy Grail of Allegro, and fortunately for some, there are Skill and Perl programmers who have made the effort to write add-on programs to do this very task. It's true that Allegro already HAS the capability to use modules, and these can be used to automate placement/fanout/route to some extent, but use of modules requires much upfront planning.

Wish there were an easy answer to this. The added tool would be a huge time-saver for designers who do step and repeat for complex clusters.
