Change property name globally

Hello CDNusers,

I am using Concept HDL. I created property say ABC on some components of my schematics and have assinged various values to it. Can I globally change name of this property to XYZ keeping the values as earlier.

 Thank you.

Hi, you can globally change properties in HDL using the tools - global update - global property change function. I would recommend a save first though.

I tried that. It allows to change values assosiated with the property. But, fails when trying to change the name of the property.

I wasn't sure why this didn't work so I talked to Cadence and got the answer. This is related to Constraint Manager. Follow the instructions below. You are limited to which properties you can change. Stuff like net_spacing_type must remain a CM property.

Are the properties "abc" defined on the schematic nets or are they defined in the Constraint Manager. The constraint properties should not be specified on the schematic instances. So, if the properties like "abc" are specified on the schematic nets, you need to do the following first:

          a. Navigate to <$CDSROOT>/share/cdssetup/synch_props.cfg. Open this file in a wordpad editor.

          b. Specify the properties "abc" & "xyz" in this file as shown below:

           ("abc" )

          ("xyz" )

          c. Save the file.

          d. Reopen the projmgr & open the schematic entry tool.

    - Now, Select File > Save Hierarchy.

    - Select Tools > Constraints > Synchronize. This will first synchronize the constraints on the schematic & Constraint Manager.

    - Select Tools > Global Update > Global Property Change.

    Hello Steve,

Thank you very much for your response.

I have attached  these properties to components, to identfy them after placement. In my schematics two-three 'Room' are too big. Thats why I have added these properties to components (using HDL, schematics), to identify them quickly after placement in allegro tool. This will help me to generate the required reports quickly.

Is the method you suggested for nets only? Will it work in my case. Please advice.

Thank you again for your help and time.

    -Yogesh.

    Yogesh

This does work with component properties. (I got it to work without editing the sync_props.cfg file) using ROOM as the property and XYZ and ABC as the values. I also changed ROOM_1 ABC to ROOM_2 XYZ using the property update. Try it and see. If you still have issues then try adding your properties to the sync_props.cfg file and follow the instructions earlier.

    Cheers

    Steve
