Orcad Capture 10.0 Library Question

Hi,

I'm using an older version of Orcad Capture.  Somehow I lost the library with all the new parts I created.

Is there a way to generate a new library from the design cache parts?

Thanks

    Open the Project

    File>New>Library

This will create a library<n>.olb, in the project window, right-click>Save As, to save the file with a known name and location.

Open up the Design Cache, left-click on the first item in the Design Cache and shift+left-click on the last item to select the contents of the Design Cache. Control+C to Copy, left-click on the new library name and Control+V to Paste. Right-Click>Save on the library name to save the library.

Afterwards the library contents can be edited, as in the globals and off-page & hierarchical contents can be removed.

    Thanks,

dragging the cache parts to a new library seemed to work.

Dang that's cool!  Never knew that one!  Will have to try it.

(note: just tried it. Saved me some hassles!)

    Hi,

When you're copying from the design cache, look out for _0, _1 etc parts. They occur if someone has edited the part from within the Capture design. You'll probably end up with a number of different graphical representations for the same component.

Actually the easiest procedure for creating your own library is to open an existing library and your own. Select the parts you want and use drag and drop to copy from one library to the other.
