Route Priority

I guess I am the only person who has had an issue with this, I don't see this mentioned anywhere I have looked (tutorials, conference papers, or forum).

In the constraint editior

Properties Tab > Net > General Properties

there is a column under Route called "Priority".  I assume the is the preference for which routes get routed first (that might be a big assumption).  But if so, should this be a number and if so, is higher more priority or less priority.

    Hello,

There is actually a Net Property called “ROUTE_PRIORITY” and it was truncated to “Priority” under the Route section probably for column width reasons.  Here are the details:

                Net Property: ROUTE_PRIORITY

Defines a net or group of nets that will need to be a higher priority when auto routing. Use increments of 10 with 1 being the highest.  It is not tied to the DRC system at all and is strictly used to guide the auto router.

Here is an example which shows that a net or group of nets will have the highest route priority during auto routing.

                            ROUTE_PRIORITY         1

    Hope this helps,
