Library footprints?

Can someone please recommend the best place/way to search online for package footprints? I'm a new user and I'm trying to avoid making bad footprints while learning the tool.

Thanks

There is a really cool tool out there which is very cheap called PCB Libraries. www.pcblibraries.com. This will supply you with IPC approved footprints. It will also create the Allegro / Orcad footprint direct from the software.

    Hi,

You could also look at fpm found at http://www.edaboard.com/ftopic170612.html

Notice that it requires Allegro PCB Design L + Allegro Performance Option

This might sound dumb (I'm brand new to the tool too), but when I finish a footprint I print it out on paper as a sanity check that I didn't screw up the units or make a really dumb mistake.  It won't save you from most small errors, and it probably won't help for leadless packages like BGAs, but its been helpful so far, so I thought I'd share :)
