Design reuse and renumbering refdes

A little reality check please...I would like to renumber refes in a board that uses design reuse modules (VER15.7).  Can this be done without breaking the reuse blocks in the schematic (HDL)? Doesn't seem like this is possible, but I wanted to bounce this off people that are much smarter than me.

     I use Design Entry CIS and do this all the time with out breaking the logic, but I would copy the directory to a back up first and try it there.
