how to view/edit footprint in *.dra?

I exported all the footprints from one reference design to one directory, all the footprints are saved as *.dra and *.psm. Now, I would like to view/edit and add these footprints to one footprint library(*.llb), can someone help me how? (I tried with library Manager but have not figured out a way to view the footprint in *.dra). thanks!

    Hi,

I think you're confusing Layout and PCB Editor.

In  OrCAD Layout footprints are saved in libraries called .llb

In PCB Editor (OrCAD and Allegro) footprints are called Package Symbols and here the following is the case

    • Each package symbol (footprint) consists of 2 files (.dra and .psm) - .dra can be opened and edited. .psm is a compiled version created everytime you save a .dra file..psm is also the file placed on the PCB
    • Since each package symbol is 2 files, you refer to them using the psmpath that consists of one or more directories. These can be setup using Setup->User Preferences.

    Best regards,

    Ole

Thank you very much, Ole! I can open/view the package symbols in PCB Editor now, not in the Layout.

    Hi,

since you have done this have you figured out after opening the symbol  .dra file in PCB Editor...(Key word editor) ..How the heck do you make edits...I've been floundering about trying to delete a connector pin.  I can select the pin , move it around  but can't see how to delete it .. Hope you can help.

Hit the delete icon in the toolbar (or go to Edit > Delete), then click on the pin. Same as deleting an element on a PCB, except there's no option to delete the pin in the RMB menu. Am I missing something?
