Exporting tech-files in Allegro PCB Editor, Orcad 16.0

I'm working on a bunch of .dra symbol drawings, and I have a set of text sizes, units, and color settings that I want to preserve across all of them.

I'm fairly sure that I need to export a .tcf tech file, but when I use file->export-> tech-file, and attempt to export one, it gives me an error: techfile.log does not exist.  If I make an empty techfile.log file, then I will get a message that the export completed with warnings/errors, but it does not store them in the log file or display them in any way that I can find.

Am I going about this the correct way?

Does your project directory have spaces in the name? If so take them out. e.g. proj1234 revA would become proj1234_revA.

     Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Create a template dra. Set up your text sizes colors etc and save it as start.dra

The open this dra everytime you wanty to create a footprint.

    Thank you

It's a good idea to create a template, but I am disappointed to be not able to generate techfile.
The techfiles are supposed to be used to do exactly what I want to do!?! no?

    Hi,

I would recommend updating your installation to 16.2 - this will give you file, export/import parameters which does exactly what you want to do. import export text sizes, colors etc.

Techfile import export is possible in OrCAD PCB Editor, but it will export/import stackup and constraints.

    Best regards,

    Ole
