Hi,

my design has a very small outline, therfore i want print it multipe on the Board (20 to 50 times) and seperate the parts after etching. How I can do that with Orcad PCB Desinger?

I'm Beginner in designing with OrCAD.

 Thanks a lot for helping

 Stefan

    Hi

If I understand what you want, then the easiest way is to use edit - copy or file - import - sub drawing. You can copy 1 then 2, then 4 then 8 etc to step and repeat your circuit. If you copy components and routes they may produce DRC's unless you have them all in your netlist. You could also look at a gerber tool or manufacture tool like GC Prevue or Cam 350 which has panelisation functionality.

     Hi,

thanks for answering! Do you have a link with a detailed description or an example of copy and paste Layouts in OrCad PCB Designer?

Why have such an expensive software no feature for that?

    Thanks

No links, I would suggest just giving it a try, it's quite informative whilst using. As to other options - If it's a design reuse thing then you can try looking at creating a module (see the inbuilt help) You can do this at both schematic and pcb ends. If you really need something more look at upgrading to Allegro Design L 16.2. This has a new feature called create cluster (RMB place replicate create and apply) Part of the placement application mode and is superb. A great addiditon by Cadence. Design Reuse as it should be done based on the imported netlist only.

    Hi,

It really is easy to use the copy command.

As Steve mention, if you're inside the PCB select Edit, Copy - use the Find control panel to specify what objects are copied.

You can also copy across PCB designs. Use File, Export, Subdrawing - again use Find control panel to specify what objects are copied. Now drag a box around the select objects, pick a origin (use RMB; Snap to object) and save of to disk.

Use file, import subdrawing to insert the "clipboard" drawing.

    Best regards,

    Ole

I tried File --> Export --> Sub-Drawing, but the dynamic filled shapes and refdes do not work.  Any idea?

    Thanks.
