PCB Editor 16.2 CHAMFER command not working

Hi,

I try to CHAMFER the corners of a board outline, but I do not succeed.

The OUTLINE is composed of lines. Note that the FILLET command works properly.

I set in OPTIONS the "Tim Segments" and "Chamfer Angle" (I think) corectly.

When I run the command, I see in the command area the following:

Pick the first segment to be chamfered (I pick the first segment, looks selected, highlighted)

Pick second segment (I pick the second segment, looks selected, highlighted)

Angle and trim value or both trim values required (I do not know what this means, I have set them previously in the OPTIONS window.

Aparently the commands ends, but nothing happens, no chamfer.)

I noticed that when I am asked to pick the segments, the FIND window becomes gray, like is not active. But when I hoover over the segments I want chamfered, I see them highlighted.

Thanks for any hint

    Hi

You need to either set first trim value and angle (45 for a 10mm chamfer) or set angle as 0 and then trim as 10 and 30 which gives you a different x and y chamfer. Always read the command line, it normally gives a clue as to what you are doing wrong.

    ie First 10 second 0 angle 45 = 45 degree chamfer 10 long

    First 10 second 20 angle 0 = chamfer 10 x 20 y.

    HTH

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks, it works. I was using FIRST=0.2", SECOND=0.2", ANGLE=45.

I was seeing the angle as the angle made by the chamfer segment and the x,y axis.

What exacly is the Chamfer Angle?

    Hi,

In Orcad Layout, is easy to change "on the spot" a segment in an arc, and the other way around.

Is this possible in PCB Editor?

Suppose I want change a just "chamfered" segment in an arc containing the segment's extremities.

    Thanks

Not sure about Layout but you can certainly switch between fillets and chamfers, just select the two segments again. If you want to have a chamfer there you can then add a three point arc Add 3pt Arc and draw the arc inside the chamfered corner.
