Creating a via padstack vs. through hole padstack

Hi,

I've been searching the forums, but haven't found quite the exact answer to my issue.  I know that everyone has different methods and sizes for creating padstacks.  In my case, I have specifications from both the manufacturer and my professor on creating padstacks.  I have successfully created several surface mount and through hole padstacks without any issue.  Now, I need to make a few custom via padstacks for larger current traces.  My question is, what is a good set of rules to follow for creating a via padstack?  Is it similar to through hole?  I opened up the default VIA.pad and played with it, but I wanted to make sure I set everything correctly.  I am using 16.0.  Thanks.

Thanks Eric, that's what I figured.  I just wanted to check before I went through and changed all my vias.
