Function swap between same symbol in Orcad CIS

Hello all,

I am having problem with using the function swap between two of the same connector on Allegro.  I have a device file that worked before, but I can't get it to use this device file on the OrCAD file that the end customer is providing me with.  Is there a way to use this one device file that I have on hand and use the rest as it is?

Please advise

Thank you all again.

    Hi,

What type of netlist are you getting from your customer? Is it 3 PST*.dat files? If it is the device files are built into the netlist and you can not use the external one. The only way you can use the device file you want is if you are using the third party netlist. You would have to edit the customers netlist in the $Packages section to have it point to the device file you wish to use. Be carefull because if you edit the netlist and do swaps after this you will be out of sync with the original schematic. I would recommend doing a test case and backannotationing before getting to far down the road.

Your customer should create the Capture part to allow the swaps you need.

    Regards,

Thank you for the reply.  The only problem is that I don't think the customer knows how to assign the correct information on CIS.

The customer provides me with the .dsn file so I can export the third party netlist, but I get different errors now.  I have also tried exporting the netlist (non-back) and have similar errors.  I will try figuring this out to see if I can solve the problem.

Could you let me know what information should be put in the schematic so that I can get my customer to fix the schematic?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello,

I actually got the device imported by importing the netlist from the schematic then exporting the netlist(non-back) then importing it back in after editing the required information for the device file as suggested.  Thank you for your help.

Could anyone advise how to assign function similar to this on the schematic end?
