Missing drill symbols in ART work

Hi all,

In my design, I have genrated drill chart. The drill symbols for  PTH comes under Class Manufature and subclass is NClegend 1-4.

But some of the drills symbols are not displaying under this class and subclass. I need to activate NCdrill_figure subclass to view them.

While creating artwork I've selected both then created artwork. When I import artwork to design for review,  then I  realized that there is no mark for drill symbols were under NCdrill_figure subclass.

What could  be the reason?

 Thanks,

Prasanna Hegde

Not sure what version of Allegro you are using but the NCDRILL_FIGURE and NCDRILL_LEGEND subclasses have not been used since release Allegro 15.2 when they were combined to a subclass called NCLEGEND-<start layer>-<end layer>.  All the Drill view figures and Drill chart information is now stored on a Manufacturing subclass that represents the drill stage in support of Blind / Buried drill view support.  In your example, subclass NCLEGEND-1-4 should contain all the drills between layers 1 and 4 only.

This design must of been done before Allegro 15.2 and the information on the NCDRILL_FIGURE subclass is stale and from a previous design revision.  The reason you did not see them when you output artwork is most likely because the NCDRILL_FIGURE subclass has been disabled for output due to it being obsolete.  Please ignore anything stored on NCDRILL_FIGURE and investigate which padstacks are not generating drill figures.  If you have a 4 layer design and all of your drills are thru the board then everything, drill figures and chart, should appear on NCLEGEND-1-4.

Screenshot image of you drill legend on NCDLEGEND-1-4 may help to troubleshoot where to look to correct the problem.  You can attach images to the post under the Options tab during your reply.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike Catrambone

     Hi All,

I am also facing the same issue. I use Allegro 16.0. After a first level investigation, I found that the drill symbols of all the through hole components placed in the bottom side of the PCB(mirrored components) are appearing in the NCdrill_figure subclass. Even if we add it in the film setup for crating an artwork including the "NCdrill_figure" subclass, the symbols will not be present in the final generated artwork. I had also tried to draw some lines in the "NCdrill_figure"subclass to checkwhether it is ignoring the entire subclass whilecreating the artwork. But, surprisingly, the lines I added manually to "NCdrill_figure"subclass appears in the art work.

That is, only the drill symbols present in the "NCdrill_figure" subcalss is not getting 'exported' to the final artwork. I have no clue how to solve this. I think this is a problem with the tool itself. Allegro 15.7 doesn't have this problem because all the drill symbols are coming in the "NCdrill_figure"subclass only.

    Hi all,

I think I have a solutin for this problem.

For 16.0 users please try the following steps (Steps below assume a 10-layer PCB).

    1.    Go to Setup>Subclasses
    2.    Add a new subclass “NCLEGEND-10-1” under the “MANUFACTURING” class
    3.    Make the “NCLEGEND-10-1” subclass visible
    4.    Update the drill chart from “Manufacture>NC>Drill Legend”. The drill figures of mirrored TH components will appear in this subclass.
    5.    In the film setup add the “NCLEGEND-10-1” subclass along with“NCLEGEND-1-10” subclass under the ‘FAB_DWG’ film

These steps solved the problem for me. Hope this will work for others  also.

    Regards,

    Babu
