How to assign net name to added components on board...

Hello....

I am using Orcad PCB editor 16.2 tool. I have a design that needs some changes. I do not have netlist and schematic. I need to add some capacitor to the board. I placed 4 capacitors using  Place manual  option. I have connected one end of capacitor to IC pin even its showing online DRC error, then I waived that. But another end of capacitor should connect to the Ground plane. When I placed a via then it not connecting to GND plane, its taking clearence as a normal designing rule. But how to assing net properties to the components added later to the design?

Importing netlist is not possible.

Quick reply would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Prasanna, If you have a Performance License or Above you can use Logic - Net Logic but this is not recommended, the netlist is golden. You could also have a look at the following which will allow you to export a netlist and make changes but again this is only for existing components, you cannot add components this way.

Another option that MUST be used with caution to get your GND connection is to change your GND shape from Dynamic to Static, Then you can manually delete the void around the via and waive the DRC. Remember that as a static shape and changes are now manual. USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION.

The ideal way is to get a schematic or master netlist and component file and do it properly.

    Steve,

I dont know whether we have performance license or not, I can export netlist with propeties.  Is it possible to export that netlist and edit  then re-import that. If possible let me know some steps. The current schematic is giving hundreds of errors. But we are planing to give board for prototyping very shortly. I have no time to break my head  to solve error in schematic.

    Thanks,

    Steve,

I refered  the post you have mentioned. I exported the netlist with properties. I can see all the netlist. But how can i mention new component because, when I manually place new component  it will not be having any reference designator.

    How can do in this?

    any comments...

    thanks,

Please see my first post. You cannot add components to this netlist (or at least I don't think you can). What schematic tool are you using ? What are the errors ? It would be quicker and safer to fix the schematic errors, you may find they are all the same.....
