panning in Allegro v16.2

As before, panning by middle button works.  We used to be able to also pan by holding down shift key, then using right button.  Now the documentation says I can hold down ctrl key and use right button, but this actually makes strokes, no panning.  Anybody know how to do an alternate panning method?

Thanks.  Patrick

I've found that if I have my cursor in the display window, I can use the arrow keys on my keyboard to pan.

The panning function works well with the middle button (even on a wheel mouse). Press and hold to pan around the canvas. Why do you want another method ?

My laptop has only a left and right button so a method that doesn't require a middle button would be helpful. OK, the arrow keys work but it's tedious, and there's the worldview window as well, but I usually pan with the middle button and it's a nuisance that the alternative has been removed.

     set the env variable:

       set no_shiftpopup

This will restore Shift-RMB roam but disable the Shift-RMB popup capability in pre-selection. Normal pre-selection popup will still function.

Thanks to fxf, and others who responded.  Good on the env variable.  This particular situation involved my customer, who had his middle button programmed for something else he does all the time, and he was using the 16.x free viewer.  Where does the free viewer get its environment?  Wonder if I can set an env variable in that location.
