Allegro multigate, multi section parts

Hi Group,

I'm trying to make a multi section part, and I can do it with this exception.  In my part, I want the FIRST symbol to be the entire part, say the 4 gates and all the pins.  The other 4 symbols each individual gate.

Part developer complains that the first section does not have unique pins (it does not, it contains all the pins that are in the other 4 sections).

Why is this an error - why can't we have something similar to the Orcad hetro parts, where one schematic symbol can represent the entire part, and the remaining represent subsets of the pins?

We would like to do this with our relays.  We want to have the coils on one page and the contacts on another.  We dont want to have to create 2 separate parts; one for the entire part and one for the fractured one.

    The way to define this is to use mulitple symbols. Have a look at the attached symbol. In Part Developer the symbols have sym_1, sym_2.

     Hi Randy,

     In PDV no need to create two different symbols for what you need.  Simply create a package and for that package click Function/Slots button and specify the number of slots (aka gates) you want.  That's all.

    Thanks, I did this, created 4 symbols, and s1, s2, s3, s4 mapped to the symbols.  each slot contains a subset of the pins except 4, which contains all the pins.

    Saving my part generates  SPLBPD-119-No unique non-common physical pin found for section 1. Make sure at least one unique physical pin is present in each section.

    Unlike your example, my symbol has hard coded pins.  Its a relay.  We want to have alternate symbols so we can split the coil from the contacts, and distribute them on other schematic pages.

     Other than the error, the part I built I think is what I want.  My sample part is attached.

    BTW, that error message is not documented in 16.2.  the help file skips from 118 to 120....

    Sorry for the delayed response, I've been out of the office. This is beyond my expertise in PD. Have you tried Cadence direct via Sourcelink ?

    This is handled with the SIZEABLE_PIN property.

    Diane Holland @ cadence pointed me to the solution.  She has an example file that shows a connector, and the ability to split out individual pins from it.

    I have attached it.
