Hi, Whether Fiducial is neccessary for small pitch IC's & BGA's or board fidicial is sufficient ? If not provide the fiducial for IC , what will be the effect ? Have a good day ! Regards, Girish Kumar

    Girish,

There are two types of fiducials.

    Global fiducial:

Fiducial marks used to locate the position of all circuit features on an individual board. When a multi image circuit is processed in panel form, the Global Fiducials are referred to as Panel Fiducials when present for the panel.

     Loca fiducial :

Fiducial marks used to locate the position of an individual component requiring more precise placement while assembling.

If you are using very fine pitch  components it's better to use local fiducial for that component.

It's all about finding the component place and accuracy of placement

    Hope this helps....

    Thanks,

    Prasanna Hegde
