How to toggle between original & relative grid

Hi all,

I have to rout a BGA socket in pcb. I want to make a relative grid with respect to the pins of & the pitch of BGA because it is very hard to rout from exact centre of to pad of BGA . Is there a way to make this relative grid and then toggle between both grids.

Best Regards

    Tanveer,

Record grid setting into a script. You can create two scripts say BGAgrid.scr and normalgrid.scr.

now assign func keys using 'alias' command. say example alias F6 BGAgrid.scr - this will assign F6 key to replay BGAgrid.scr and similarly for normalgrid.scr.

Now you can toggle between grids using the function keys.

    goodluck!!

    HI Nagaraj,

    Thanx for your reply,

yes you are right we can toggle by making scripts, but my question is that how can I make my grid relative to the BGA pins.

    Best Regards

    tanveer,

there is a Skill file in Sourcelink(vc_SetOrigin.il) to reset the origin to any location, vias, pins in design.
Use that to set the origin to BGA pin then set your grids and route to the exit of BGA, again you can reset back the origin to original location using the same skill.

Important is you need to have the coordinates written for reference while resetting to original origin location or add a via at original origin location as reference.

    good luck!!

Use the "Relative Pick" button on the lower right corner of the screen.  If it shows "A" then it's absolute. If it shows "R" then it's relative to the last pick.

    Yes redwire,

you are right there is a button on the lower right corner of the screen. But I dont figure out how to configure it to the pins of BGA.

    Best Regards
