Hi, I am using 0.5mm pitch BGA in my design ,which is having land diameter 0.35mm . I want to use via(PTH) in pad technology , the fan out concept shown in figure (using 6mil drill on the 0.4mm pad ) .I have few concern reg via in pad technology 1)whether it is able to fabricate Via (6mil drill ) for 1.6mm PCB , any aspect ratio problem? 2)how much reliable this technology during assembling If anybody done used this concept pls suggest Regards, Girish Kumar

      Hello Nagaraj,

Suppression of unused pads is possible while generating of gerber. But how can we suppress unwanted pads while routing. There is no option as you informed. I'm using Allegro PCB Design L v16.01.

    Thanks.

    Hallo Nagaraj,
Is it possible to generate the  Via in pad PTH list separately from the other PTH while generating drill file ?

Since its through hole it comes as single drill chart. If you like to differentiate via in pad drills use a separate via with different drill symbol for via-In-Pad, this will help you to differentiate in Drill chart.

can you specify the reason why you need to separate?

    ~Nagaraj.

    Thanks Nagaraj!

We have done a design using VIP & PTH(out side the pad) , but same padstack used for both .

Fab house asked to provide the location of PTH  for Which VIP Fab  processo to be used & remaining will be treated as normal PTH. Then we have defined a  different drill size (eg:10mill drill for PTH & 9.99mil Drill For VIP) , from this we can differentiate in drill chart  . As u mentioned below  how we can  assign  different drill symbol for same drill dimension?

    Regards,
    Girish Kumar
