Hi everybody!! First, thank you for read this.

How can I creating and editing libraries in OrCAD PCB Editor?? I've created new footprints for my pcb. I've putting in OrCAD Capture. I've created the netlist very well. When i'm going to place the component, I place - Manually and "Component by refdes" and i appear all components my PCB, but if i check any component OrCAD say me:

 E-Symbol no found for component...

I've created footprints and i've added it to OrCAD Capture, why i can't place components???

 Thank you very much!!

Best regards

You have created the footprint but you need to make it available in the library path.

use the menu setup-->user preferences-->paths-->library, here you set your padpath - for the padstack to get listed and psmpath - for the symbol to get listed.

    good luck!!

    Hi Daniel,

Since you are new to Orcad PCB editor, I would suggest you to go through the below tutorial on Library development,

The tutorial is available in your installment path\doc\algrolibdev for example my installation path is C:\Cadence\SPB_16.2\doc\algrolibdev.

I have attached the document here.

    Good luck!!
    ~Nagaraj.

When you're all gonna have a chance, check out a real design package. IE: PROTEL.

Then you're going to realize how much time you're wasting from your life and since time is money..so figure the rest of it !

Best luck for all of you to trying reinventing the wheel !
