Changing a symbol in PCB Editor

I had a question about changing a symbol in PCB Editor. I desire to change a single part footprint in Editor.  In layout this was very simple, by right-clicking on the part, then properties, then a graphic would even show the footprints.  This is the same idea I want to do in PCB Editor.  My symbol directory is at the root but i do not wish to change the footprint under the netlist evertime and save and import just to change the footprint of one part.  Can this be done quicker?

You'd probably be better asking this in the PCB Design forum...
