Capture Quirks

I'm getting frustrated with some of Capture's little quirks.  I'm moving things around in my schematic and the lines move around in an inconsistent fashion.  For example, sometimes when I move an off-page connector, it moves only the net line that is directly connected to it.  Other times, when I try and move another off-page connector, it drags several segments together in the same orientation.  This makes it extremely annoying because now I have to disconnect the line from the connector and move them separately.

You probably have a point but you will need to get these issues raised with your Cadence Channel Partner to get them addressed in a future update or release of the product.

     Hi mj,

I have found Capture's interface to be very regular and consistent. Capture never moves wires connected to a component if I only move the component, in my experience. Could you be more specific with you situation?

Capture (Design Entry HDL), on the other hand, can be more problematic and I've seen what you describe. Dragging parts sometimes does one thing with connected nets, and other times it does something else. One tip in Concept is to click a wire on the vertex to move just the wire. Clicking on a wire close to a component will move the component and the wire. Using Windows Mode it is easy to create groups to which you can add and subtract elements using the Ctrl key. Working with groups in Windows Mode seems much more natural to me, but then again I'm a Windows user.
