Problem installing OrCAD 16.2

I'm having trouble installing OrCAD 16.2 on one machine on our network.  The install appears to go fine until the pause while it is setting up the environment where it appears to hang up.  No other pc has this problem and I am at a loss of where to begin troubleshooting.  Does anybody have any ideas?

     Hi bulldog,

Does the PC with the long delay have the same hardware as all the other PCs? Install time, in my experience, varies greatly depending on CPU power. I have seen successful installs take quite a while during the Setting up the Environment section. On slower PCs when I am installing the Libraries, I typically start an install in the evening when I leave and finish up in the morning - so I don't have an exact timeframe for you. Without the Libraries, a fast PC will install the entire suite in 20 minutes or so.

    Hi Evan,

Our internal policy requires users with laptops to take them home overnight if they can't be locked up so an overnight install is not possible.  Most of our system are tower pcs whereas this is a laptop.  However other laptops have not had this problem.  The system hangs at the "setting up environment" part and up to that point is the same as the install on all other machines.  I checked task manager and it indicates only 18% CPU usage so I am puzzled as what to look at next.  It does not get to the point where it sets up the program list.

Any ideas where I should start to look?

    Thanks

Is the license configured correctly and available?

If so, try browsing the disk for the installation directory and run the application directly, like Capture.exe or Allegro.exe.Then:

"No license run in demo mode", CDS_LIC_FILE environment variable needs to be set to the license source, check a working machine for the setting.

If you get a "missing DLL" message, you need to fix the PATH in the environment to get the tools to find the DLLs.

If the application(s) run, only the program group shortcuts will be missing, you can set those up with "Create Shortcut" if required, that will, at least, get you running.

     Hi Bulldog,

Make sure you are following the below steps:

    • login as Admin & then install the software
    • Stop the antivirus & Firewall from services of Control panel
    • Close all other applications while installing the software
    • Chk whether you can edit the Environment variables..
    • Last option just copy the setup files into your PC n then install the software
