Paning the board using Keyboard arrow, etch priority, anti etch region during package creation

 Hi,

I have a few queries in OrCAD PCB Designer-16.2

> How can i adjust the Keyboard arrow keys so that i can pan the board w.r.t. mils

> How can i add etch priority for copper pour which is in a same conducting layer-say priority 1, 2 which helps while fabrication for clearance

> How can add a region or shape while creating the Package symbol, so that particular region will not get any copper pour added, where that particular region is used for drilling.

 Thnx.

    1. Look for your env file (located in your pcbenv directory). You can add edits for keys here.

    2. RMB on the shape Raise Priority.

    3. When creating the symbol (dra file). Add a shape on route keepout / all, top or bottom.

     Hi Steve,

    1. Wht is the keyword for arrowkeys to be used..can you let me know some sample for say up arrow which gives 10 mils pan towards north

    2. I tried the Raise Priority option earlier itself- wht if, if there are more than 2 shapes in a single layer & priority has to be assigned as 1,2,3

3.Even after adding route keepout..in the package, while adding etch in the pcb i wont get clearance from the etch on the route keepoout region.I need something like Shape void circle which removes the etch i.e. after adding the etch, but i need adding these region before  etch on the board i.e. during package creation

    Thnx

    1.       Actually the arrowkeys do pan left and right, up and down. Try zooming into an area then use the arrow keys to pan around. The cmd is roam x 96 (distance).

    2.       The raise priority selects the active shape (that is selected) and makes that the highest priority. It doesn’t work like Layout did.

    3.       Make sure your etch shape is a dynamic shape. If it is a static you will have to manually void the keepout. Shape – change shape type (options menu) make sure dynamic is selected.

     Steve,

    1. how to ctrl the arrow key pan w.r.t mils. The cmd roam is arbitrarly paning the board n isn`t it possible the movement of arrow keys w.r.t mils

    2. Then i think for more than 2 shapes this will be a drawback when compared to layout. Any work around which can be followed for 3 shapes

3.now its workin..i didn`t choose Dynamic coppoer while adding etch

    Thnx

    1. Not sure what you mean... If you want to move components by arrow keys then the answer is no for 16.2. Maybe in the new release.... If you just want to pan around the screen then use the arrow keys and it will move by the user units you define in roam.

    2. Dynamic shapes are much more powerful than copper pour in layout. Again what exactly are you trying to do that the priority of a shape is causing an issue ?

    3. I'm pleased this has been resolved.
